WIFI Connection for Easy Remote

If I organize an event where there is no internet connection, how do I connect my tablet to my "WIFI" notebook for Easy Remote? Is a normal WLAN router sufficient? Is it right to connect both the tablet and the notebook to such a wireless router or do I really need an active internet connection for the Tablet Easy Remote to run?
