Group brightness, duplicate Group

Post by Julius Drescher »

Hi All,

I´m designing a light show for a cabaret- and music- show, which is based on a cue-list (~72 cues per half).
We use 12 moving lights, halogen front light, and some led-stuff on stage. As we are on tour and act in very tiny theaters(100pax) to bigger theaters (600 pax) it is absolutely neccessary to adjust the brightness of individual fixture group on the fly. There´s no time for preprogramming.

For now, there is one fixture-group each for Moving lights, led´s, frontlight etc. Each group contains an identical number of scenes. The brightness of the individual fixture-group is controlled via the brightness fader in Live-Mode (connected to a apc-mini).
But this gives us 11x72=792 single scenes in total... Is there a better way to controll the brightness of a group?

LTP and HTP is no option.

My second question is, how it is possible to duplicate a group in editor-mode?

Thank you for your time and help,

Julius

Hey,

Is there a better way to controll the brightness of a group?

I'm afraid LIVE-mode general dimmer is the only way of doing quickly what you want there.

how it is possible to duplicate a group in editor-mode?

You could do as follows :
- create the group,
- select all scenes from the source group,
- while holding "ALT" key pressed, drag-drop them all into the target group

This should copy the scenes into the new group.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
TomHat

Hi Tom,

Thank you very much! I think that´s working for me :-)
Perhaps a real group-master could be implemated in an upcoming update?!

Kind regards,
Julius

I would also really like to see that in a future release :-) a group master fader, so each fixture group can be dimmed seperately.

Hey mate,

Try this workaround, which works great for me:

For all the scenes, you want to control with your group dimmer:
In the live window: Press on the small down arrow, right of the scenes name.
Two small faders will show up, the first is the scene dimmer, the second the scene speed.
Hold "alt" and klick the scene dimmer fader.
This will create a fader in the "show" window, controlling the scene dimmer.
Repeat this for all scenes you want to control.

In the "show" window, select all this new created faders, right click, "merge".
Now you created a "group dimmer" for all selected scenes.

This dimmer controls the maximum intensity of all effects and chases that control the intensity.

Best wishes,
Patrick
