Hello everyone!
Just got Daslight 4 and looks super.
I am designing a theatrical show where I want to trigger my dmx fixtures from Logic Pro X.

My thought is to have 2 tracks in Logic with some markers. One track is for the audio-music of the show and the other is a midi track to trigger the dmx light fixtures. So when I go to a different marker all audio and lights will change at once.

I need some help in the process.
Can anyone describe in simple steps how do I do this?
How to trigger daslight from midi track in Logic or any other DAW?

I agree with tpals,
and repost the SAME QUESTION NOT ANSWERED.
The midi triggering from an external device have the same process of a midi triggering by a track from daw that goes through a midi network and than arrive at the Daslight, but it seems impossible to set a midi mapping and do this.
It is a very good solution for musics light shows, where we probably rather map the effect in a very precise timeline, in a midi track over the click track the musician have.
If this problem will be solved or this feature will be added, I'll have all the reason to buy the Interface and work with Daslight in my making of light show till death!

It's possible to trigger scenes from a DAW with a virtual MIDI cable, like the free LoopBe1 (http://www.nerds.de/en/loopbe1.html) for Windows.
Not sure if it's available to Mac though, but other similar utilities may exist.

It acts as an invisible wire inside the computer...

This MIDI device has to be selected In the MIDI settings of Daslight, and the DAW becomes the "external" controller.

Indeed, the idea is to have one audio track (or more) and one MIDI track, all sync'd.
The peak graphic on the audio track allows to add the note events on the MIDI track according to the beats in a visual way.

This is a workaround to the missing timeline in Daslight4.

Short answer for Mac:

1) Open Audio-MIDI-Setup -> MIDI-Studio (cmd+2) -> IAC-Driver -> tick "Device enabled" and add at least one port (name it DasLight or whatever)
2) In Logic: Create external MIDI track -> Select the Port from 1) and select channel 1 as output
3) In DasLight: Preferences -> MIDI -> Activate the Port from 1)

Be happy

For testing: Record some notes with the keyboard piano in Logic Pro X and play that in an endless loop. You should see those notes in DasLight. The problem I had: DasLight suddenly had a high RAM load and CPU activity. Can't say if that belongs together.

You think it work also in Ableton Live 9? I use it for triggering the whole shows.
Anyway, I will try this with IAC and write down the result.

I also done a music light show with daslight over a midi triggered program. We calculate the Time between the markers.

If you are interested look at my video. The Laser was controlled via pangolin on a different computer.
