Beta 7 Bugs

I've had a quick play around with Beta 7 and here are some bugs that I found:

1. When assigning MIDI triggers and saving the show Daslight often crashes (I've sent bug reports).
2. Even when MIDI OUT settings are setup they are not being sent to the controller. When triggering scenes with mouse or MIDI controller nothing is sent in MIDI OUT (observed through MIDI watcher).
3. The only MIDI OUT command that is sent is when the show is first opened and this is incorrectly sending the 'on' value for the first scene in the show even though it isn't 'on'. Possibly getting this value from the first scene in 'edit' mode which is always enabled. Have reported this previously to Jp.

I got a other problem with Midi. I can´t start a scene with a Midi comand. The Midi faders work.

[5] As mentioned before: I cannot create a curve effect on any channel I want. To recreate the bug, load the "Lightmaxx Club 4 Laser" and try to create a curve effect on the y-axis movement (7th channel). Regardless which channel you select, only the first channel changes its values. It would also be great, if I could define a Min and a Max value for a curve effect. It's hard to limit a sine wave for example to the values from 100 (Min) to 200 (Max) by using the sliders. // Beta 7 on Mac OS X

[6] Clicking on a flash scene's name tag activates the scene like a normal scene until you click it again. If you click underneath the name, the button works as intended. // Beta 7 on Mac OS X

[7] Similar problem in show mode with a connected iPad. A "flash" scene is activated permanently until I click that scene again. // Beta 7 on Mac OS X with iPad in the same wireless network

Hey everyone,

Thank you again for reporting all bugs you can find on our new Beta version.
So far, bugs 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 7 have been reported to the developers in charge. As for 6, I just fixed it this morning.

Selection tool = the arrow icon (6th icon with drop down list) between "Move all" and "select all fixtures" icons, in the General tab, right pane.
The tooltip text is "Square", it should be "Select" or so, I guess.

'Square' is the selection mode. But I guess we could make it clearer. Thanks for the feedback !

All fixes should be available in next version.

Some other Bugs:
[8] With matrix effect generator: if if don't check the box including set values (in german it says gesetzte Leven einbeziehen) the generated effect is always only red... I hope that is a real bug and not just my stupidness

[9] a real bug: If I send more than one midi note to at once to trigger several scenes simultaneously sometimes the scenes dont get triggered or i have to hit the trigger a second time. (in my case i use a foot controller which sends up to 4 midi note messages at once, and i also see that daslight recieves the midi information (through midi watcher) but the scenes arent activated like they should. Often hitting the trigger a second time is necessary.

I had a show yesterday and I had a lot of problems. In my opinion is the current Beta 7 still far away from a stable release. I had only one total crash during the show, which is much less than before, but still one crash to much. I used the current Daslight Beta 7 on a up-to-date MacBook Air 11" and an iPad Air as remote.

I had a couple problems with the effect generator. Sometimes the following errors occured randomly. When the first try didn't work then sometimes one of the next tries was without problems. In some cases, I had the same Bug as Michael (No. 8 ).

[10] When I pressed the "generate" button to create a effect scene in Matrix Effect or Pixel Effect, sometimes I got only a scene with one step which lasts as long as the timer setting (e.g. 10sec) but contains only the first step of the effect. Sometimes moving the "Compression" slider a bit did the trick. But when I want as less compression as possible (slider to the left), it did never work yesterday.

[11] How should Matrix Effects like "Fx Level Meter" work? During the setup in the effect generator it works but as soon as I press on generate, I got a scene with one step. And that step looked like a snapshot of that current moment. But the effect is gone.

[12] The BPM-Counter doesn't work. I always got 90 bpm. It was the same if I used the built in microphone or selected the USB Audio Interface. But the signal was there, as I could see at the Pulse settings. When I changed the input source, the counter went up to 120/130 but dropped soon down to 90 and stayed there.

[13] The Buttons "Pause" and "Blackout" don't work in show mode via iPad. I did not test if it works from within the show window in Daslight.

[14] I cannot select the length of a slider in the show window. I really like the "Scale 2" on an iPad Air, as the 1x1 Button is big enough to hit. But the 4x1 slider is too short to have a fluid movement. And it would be great, if the sliders could show the current DMX value.

[15] When I try to move an item in the show window, like a vertical slider, on a small screen (MacBook Air 11"), the grid always moves in wild directions, as soon as I start dragging around. The auto scroll feature when dragging near the visible area is too hectic.

[16?] Is it possible to add text and/or borders in show mode, for having a text header above some buttons or to group the buttons for better visibility?

[17] The fade time of the first step of a scene seems to be ignored. I want to have a dimmer channel go up and down. So I set up two steps, one with the fader at 255 and one with the fader at 0. Then I set the fade timer of both steps to 1 second. When I run this scene in endless loop, the fader starts at 255 and fades down to 0 in one second. But then after the hold second it jumps instantly up to 255.

There were more problems, but I don't remember them right now. I'll post them as soon as I remember them.
