The manual shows a nicely organised live page with groups organised neatly on the page etc..

I have found that double clicking the group in the editor page allows me to rename the groiup but how can I organise their position on the live page etc..

This is what I have discovered....
The "live page" is totally automatic, you cannot arrange the columns as you want here.
As you expand/collapse groups all the other groups move around on the page. and the layout depend on how large you have the display i.e. if you unpin the fixtures below the "live page" area increases.
Your only control is in the editor page.
Here you can change the order of the groups (by drag and drop to the order you prefer). Also you can hide items from the live page.

SO this would be the method required to "Organise" the live page.
