I can confirm its a driver problem. I have seen the same problem with sunlite and lumidesk. Software with the same interfaces...

Daslight haven't tested on Windows 8 yet. Is Daslight 3 running on it? That will be a great step. I think that we need new drivers for W8...

What exactly isn't working, i dont understand your first message completely...

Take a look on the input tab on the top of the screen, and see if Midi input is selected.

Another Bug with the dimmers:
If you are in the group window, everything works.
If you are in the fixture label, but without the group window, You can see the faders dimming, but the output is still at full
If you are in the general view, the dimmers will not work at all

There is a bug when you give a scene an existing name... In the error screen there isn't a space between the scene name and 'already'

Another bug is that we can't enter spaces in a Group name.

If you are buzy in a show and you want to edit something, you can use this function to 'blind' your DMX, so the scene what you are editing is not sending out his DMX values, but only the values comin' from the live mode.
